When sleep becomes a struggle, many women immediately start looking for supplements. And while certain supplements can be extremely beneficial (magnesium glycinate is my fav!), one of the first places I like to start is with food. Your body relies on specific nutrients to produce serotonin and melatonin. These are the compounds that help you relax, unwind, and sleep well. Here are some of my favorite sleep-supportive foods: Tart cherries — one of the few natural food sources of melatonin. Pumpkin seeds — rich in magnesium and tryptophan, which support relaxation and healthy sleep. Fatty fish like salmon, sardines, and mackerel — provide omega-3 fats and vitamin D, both of which have been linked to better sleep quality. Oats — a complex carbohydrate that can help support serotonin production and more stable overnight blood sugar. Leafy greens like spinach, kale, and Swiss chard — packed with magnesium, an important nutrient for nervous system and sleep support. Eggs — a simple source of tryptophan and vitamin D. Chamomile or passionflower tea — a calming evening ritual that may help support relaxation before bed. Supporting better sleep doesn't have to be complicated. Giving your body the nutrients it needs to support hormone health can be a simple yet powerful step toward more restful nights. 💚 Ready to make sleep-supportive meals part of your daily routine?
